Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) husband’s attacker has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
David DePape attacked Paul Pelosi in his home with a hammer in October 2022. Pelosi was left with serious injuries, which he mostly recovered from, but he says he still suffers from the side effects of the attack.
DePape had told the jury in November of 2023 that Paul Peolsi was not the target and that he had intended to attack Nancy Pelosi. DePape testified that he had other people he wanted to target and that if Paul Pelosi interfered, he would go through him to accomplish his mission.
Ultimately, DePape said that his plan was ruined and decided to attack Paul Pelosi instead.
DePape will serve 30 years for assault and 20 years for attempted kidnapping. The 20 and 30-year sentences will be done concurrently.
