Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R) has announced that she will run for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District seat, rather than run for re-election in the 3rd Congressional District.
In 2022, Boebert defeated Democrat Adam Frisch in an election that took days after election night to announce a winner. Boebert won that race by 546 votes.
Colorado’s 4th Congressional District seat will be open after current Congressman Ken Buck (R) announced he will not be seeking re-election. Buck said he was disappointed that too many Republicans were continuing to claim that the 2020 election was stolen. Buck was one of several dozen Republicans who fought against the nomination of Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) for Speaker of the House, after Kevin McCarthy (R-California) was ousted from the leadership position.
Boebert, in announcing her switch to the 4th District, said in a video posted on X, in part,
“Since the first day I ran for public office, I promised I would do whatever it takes to stop the socialists and communists from taking over our country. That means staying in the fight.
But it also means not allowing Hollywood elites and progressive money groups to buy the 3rd District. A seat that they have no business owning. I will not allow dark money that is directed at destroying me personally, to steal this seat. It’s not fair to the 3rd District.”

The race for Colorado’s 4th District now has seven Republican candidates lined up for the primary. There are also three Democrats running.
One Democrat candidate, John Padora, criticized Boebert for switching races. He said on X,
“I’ve been running for Congress in the district Lauren Boebert just switched to since May. Like the carpetbagger she is, Boebert has abandoned her constituents because she thinks CD-4 will give her an easy win. We can’t let that happen.
Our district deserves a congressman who will fight for our values and bring civility and decency back to Congress. Please donate now to help us win this race to keep Boebert and any extremists like her out of Congress.”
