President Joe Biden and others criticized former President Donald Trump for his comment during a speech in Ohio on Saturday.
Biden said on X that Trump wanted another January 6-type event. Biden’s X account posted the following regarding the remark made by Trump:
“It’s clear this guy wants another January 6.
But the American people are going to give him another resounding electoral defeat this November.”

The video the Biden account shared was from another X account under the name “Biden-Harris HQ on X.” The comment posted by that account quoted part of Trump’s speech, saying,
“Trump: If I don’t get elected, it’s gonna be a bloodbath. It’s gonna be a bloodbath for the country”

Numerous national media outlets shared the video and the quote above where Trump said if he wasn’t elected, there was going to be a “bloodbath.”
While some accounts on social media criticized Trump for the comment, others said that his comment was taken out of context. Here is what Trump said before and after his “bloodbath” comment (bold added to show the portion of the speech Biden, the media, and others are referencing):
“You know, Mexico has taken over a period of 30 years, 34% of the automobile manufacturing business in our country. Think of it, went to Mexico.
China now is building a couple of massive plants where they’re gonna build the cars in Mexico and think, they think, that they’re gonna sells those cars into the United States with no tax at the border.
Let me tell you something to China: If you’re listening President Xi, and you and I are friends, but he understands the way I deal. Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re gonna get that and you’re not gonna hire Americans and you’re gonna sell calls to us now, we are gonna put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not gonna be able to sell those cars.
If I get elected. Now, if I don’t get elected it’s gonna be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s gonna be the least of it. It’s gonna be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it.
But they’re not gonna sell those cars. They’re building massive factories.
A friend of mine. All he does is build car manufacturing plants. He’s the biggest is the world. I mean honestly I joke about it, he can’t walk across the street. In that way he’s like Biden.
