Democrats React to Donald Trump Trial and Felony Convictions

This article contains Democrat reactions (for Republican reactions, click here, or Trump’s initial reaction, click here) to former President Donald Trump’s felony convictions after a Manhattan, New York jury found him guilty last week.

It was the first time in United States history that a former president was convicted of a crime. In the aftermath of the conviction, the Trump campaign said it raised approximately $54 million in 24 hours.

Here are reactions by some Democrats to the conviction:

President Joe Biden:

“No one is above the law.”

Citation
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY):

“America is a nation built upon the rule of law. The jury has spoken and carefully rendered a decision. Responsible leadership requires the verdict to be respected.”

Citation
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY):

“As Donald Trump considers his next steps within the legal system, there should continue to be no outside political influence, intimidation, or interference.

I encourage Donald Trump’s supporters and critics alike to let the process move forward according to the law.”

Citation
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (CT):

“It’s simple. He broke the law. He got caught. He got convicted.

Is this crime as serious as the others he committed? No. But the rule of law applies to everyone. And this won’t be the last conviction.”

Citation
Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42):

“These guilty verdicts confirm what we have long known – Donald Trump is a con man and a criminal who has consistently exploited our country for his own personal gain. No one, not even a former president, is above the law.

Meanwhile, the MAGA Republican Majority will continue to support and uplift Trump as their leader instead of condemning this serious criminal behavior.”

Citation
Senator Raphael Warnock (GA):

“No one is above the law—including Donald Trump.”

Citation
Colorado Governor Jared Polis:

“No one is above the law. Coloradans have faith in our justice system and the guilty convictions from a jury of his peers show the former President lacks the moral capacity to lead our country.”

Citation
Washington Governor Jay Inslee:

“Trump was convicted by twelve randomly selected citizens who actually listened to real evidence. This is the ultimate form of democracy. Trump went up against democracy and lost.”

If these fools believe in their own BS, then Trump should be able to sue ALL 51 intelligence officials, all news media and every other promoter of the notion that the Hunter Biden laptop was a fiction. It was introduced into evidence by the FBI in Hunter’s gun charge case the other day. Trump should sue for Gazillions of dollars for election interference, which is the underlying premise of the bogus “hush money” case.
