Jury Finds Donald Trump Guilty on All 34 Felony Counts

A New York jury has found former President Donald Trump guilty.

The case was the first time in American history that a former President of the United States was charged and convicted of a crime. In this case, Trump was accused of 34 crimes, with the prosecution saying he used a “hush money” payment to keep an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels quiet, which was used to cover up another crime, which is a felony in New York.

After the conviction, Trump spoke with reporters, calling the trial a disgrace and rigged trial. Trump blasted the judge as being corrupt and maintained that he was innocent.

Trump went on to say that the real verdict will come on November 5th when the general election is held. Trump said that the Biden administration was at fault for the trial and it was being done to hurt a political opponent.

Trump also took to social media to attack the trial as a witch hunt, saying,

“MY CIVIL RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TOTALLY VIOLATED WITH THIS HIGHLY POLITICAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL, AND ELECTION INTERFERING WITCH HUNT. OUR FAILING NATION IS BEING LAUGHED AT ALL OVER THE WORLD!”

Manhatten District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who represented the prosecution in the case, posted on X after the conviction:

“Today, a jury found Donald J. Trump GUILTY on ALL 34 felony counts.”

Congresswoman Becca Balint (D-VT) made a statement on X, saying no one was above the law. Her post said in its entirety:

“A jury of Donald Trump’s peers have spoken and justice was done. Like I used to tell my middle school students, actions have consequences. Nobody in this country is above the law.”

Judge Juan Merchan has set sentencing for July 11th. That date is four days before the Republican Party meets to officially nominate Trump as their candidate for President of the United States.
